Surviving Together

All I remember from being sick are the really bad headaches and not being able to get out of bed. After taking my medicine, I couldn’t stand straight. Unfortunately, I wasn’t the only one.  At the height of the pandemic, my entire family became ill with COVID-19. My oldest sister, Lindsey, described having a headache first. Then the virus spread throughout our home. My mother, whom we believed to be getting better, hugged me as we fell asleep on the couch. Shortly after, she began having trouble breathing and had to go to the hospital. She could barely speak.

For over a month, my family had to isolate from one another. After being so sick for so long, we got used to being separated and continued to do everything on our own. This project is a reflection of that period of time and the activities we are doing to get back to the normal life we used to live before COVID-19.
